As the name suggests, no running or jogging is allowed in Walking Football, and the game is non-contact. This reduces the risk of injury, ensuring many can keep playing into their 70s and 80s.
Walking Football is ‘traditionally’ seen as a game for over 50s in men; however groups are growing and gaining new players who are attracted to this slower-paced form of the game, including players in their late 40s with health issues, younger players returning from injury or referrals from Health Care Providers. Although the training sessions are open to all ages, the matches are age 50+ only.
Woodnesborough have two Walking Football teams; 50+ and 60+, with training days on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
